Bodyguard

Good Aligned, Nighttime

The Bodyguard is a single, brave Villager who can defend one person per night from the Werewolf. While he does not have the sheer physical strength to single-handedly slay the Werewolves, he can keep them at bay with his blade and protection spells until the sun rises. However, demand for his efforts is high, and in the interest of keeping as many of the Villagers safe as he can, he cannot protect the same person on consecutive nights.

How to GM

For beginner games, during the Identification Phase, simply have the Bodyguard open his eyes so that you can confirm that he knows he is the Bodyguard.

During the Night Phase, ask the Bodyguard to point to someone to protect. That person is protected from all forms of death for that night. The Bodyguard cannot protect the same person two nights in a row.

- "Bodyguard, open your eyes and point to someone to protect."
- "Bodyguard, close your eyes."

Alternate Rules

Weaker Bodyguard
The Bodyguard is unable to protect themselves. This variant is useful for groups whose Bodyguards spend half the time protecting themselves. This rule change drastically weakens the Bodyguard's abilities in the absence of any other forms of protection. This should generate a much more heroic Bodyguard.
