The Thief is a special Villager who is only looking out for himself. He cares not for the fate of his fellow Villagers. His only concern is staying alive, but unfortunately for him, this means that he must look out for the welfare of his fellow man. Just this once. As soon as the Werewolves are eliminated, he will go right back to liberating the gold from their pockets.

How to GM

For beginner games, during the Identification Phase, simply have the Thief open his eyes so that you can confirm that he knows he is the Thief.

Alternate Rules

Stronger Thieves (Duplicate Roles)
If multiple Thief cards are in play, consider calling them during the Identification Phase and allowing them to know each other's identities. This way, they can work together to try and stay alive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Thief still win if the Fool or Were-Hamster wins?
Yes, provided that the Thief is still alive when the game ends.

While the Thief is simply trying to stay alive and not directly on the side of the Villagers, the easiest way for him to accomplish this is by eliminating the Werewolf problem.
